Ideas & Process
The theme that I wanted to have my flier be based off of was storytelling. I wanted to portray how graphic design is something you create and make your own. The creative process differs between every individual, which is what makes graphic design a unique method of design.
Rough Sketches
In order to achieve my theme of storytelling I'm displaying two of my sketches that I worked with. To the left, I have the phrase "Graphic Design" that has a slogan that reads "A new way to create your own story". I wanted to use that text to lead the viewer to the shape resembling a walking path. It is not filled in within the image because I wanted to use text in that space. In terms of imagery, I made a simple outline of people, with one holding a piece of paper. This would have been something I photographed myself, where one student would excitedly be showing two others what their newest design was.

The sketch towards the right is supposed to resemble a map layout. I thought of combining aspects of a compass, where the lines that extend align the slogan, "A new way to map out your creations." Once again with the simple outlines, I made figures that I would have photographed. The one towards the bottom would be using a ruler in order to cut with an x-acto knife against a gridded cutting mat. This would have shown the dedication that is needed in order to work with visual communication design. Other shapes towards the top include a student working with a laptop, with their screen facing the viewer. Inputting small images and examples of tools within the Adobe Creative Cloud is also what would fill the organic shapes.
